Our Mission Trip to El Salvador was fantastic. The flight into San Salvador was quick and easy. The short bus ride into Barrio San Jacinto was exciting. In a matter of hours we jumped from one culture and were immersed into another. It was a day and night transition from fast BMWs and good roads to jalopies and potholes. We were welcomed with open arms and we were able to have great positive impact. The Senior Center received a new coat of paint and new appliances. The Chapel Site was cleared and a temporary shed and enclosure were erected. In between the labor we were able to see some of the key cultural sites associated with San Oscar Romero and the El Salvadoran Civil War. All of these activities increased my understanding of and empathy for the people of El Salvador. I am honored to be able to advance the Mission of the Catholic Church and the calling to serve those in greatest need.
